Just days after returning to school, a student in Amherstburg has tested positive for COVID-19.

A letter was sent home to parents of kids at Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School yesterday.

All students in the patient’s cohort will now have to quarantine at home for two weeks.

Officials with the school say the classroom in question has already been deep cleaned and sanitized and any further direction will come from the health unit.

No schools in Chatham-Kent or Sarnia-Lambton have reported any cases of COVID-19 so far.

According to the province’s school COVID tracker website, there are 27 schools with at least one positive case as of Tuesday afternoon, the majority in Ottawa and the GTA.
