As new restrictions on social gatherings come into effect, Chatham-Kent’s COVID caseload continues to rise.

Public Health’s daily update includes 19 new infections and 16 cases resolved, raising the active number of COVID case to 152.

There are 11 COVID patients being treated at the Health Alliance, six of whom are in the ICU and five on ventilators.

The average age of COVID patients in hospital is 70. Only one of those being treated for the virus has been fully vaccinated.

Overall, hospital occupancy sits at 70% for both the ICU and medical, surgical, and critical care beds.

Nine CKHA staff are currently off work due to COVID or exposure to the virus.

There are still eight COVID outbreaks across Chatham-Kent, five of which involve elementary schools, one linked to a wedding, one church-related, and one at a manufacturing plant.
