COVID Cases Remain Steady In CK

Three COVID-19 outbreaks have been resolved in Chatham-Kent as the number of active cases dropped by one.

Chatham-Kent Public Health reported 18 new cases and 19 cases resolved on Wednesday, lowering the active caseload to 287.

Health officials said 14 people with COVID-19 remain in hospital at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Outbreaks at three elementary schools — Holy Family Catholic School, École élémentaire catholique Saint-Philippe, and Gregory Drive Public School — have also been declared over.  However, outbreaks remain in effect at three other schools, Riverview Gardens nursing home in Chatham, and at an unidentified manufacturing plant.

Ontario health officials reported 10,436 new cases of the virus on Wednesday, however, experts said that number is likely much higher due to many public health units reaching their testing capacity.
