COVID Claims Another Life in Chatham-Kent

One more person has died from COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent. Public Health says the latest victim is a woman in her 90s who lived at Fairfield Park. That brings the death toll since the pandemic began to eight in the municipality.

The COVID outbreak at Fairfield Park no includes 24 active cases among residents and 31 active cases among staff.

Across the municipality, Public Health unit is reporting three new infections and seven recoveries, lowering the total active caseload to 129.

The last remaining workplace outbreak has now been declared over, leaving five active outbreaks in the municipality: Fairfield Park, Copper Terrace, and two at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

One of the COVID-19 variants has been found in Windsor-Essex. Public Health officials say more testing needs to be done to determine which variant it is. Officials in the region also reporting two more COVID deaths and 30 new cases.

Lambton County is reporting one more death linked to the virus and 8 new confirmed cases.

And for the first time in ages, Ontario’s numbers have dipped below 1000, with the Ministry of Health reporting 945 new cases today. However, officials say there are still some data issues with Toronto Public Health, which accounts for the low figures. There have also been another 18 deaths province-wide.
