Another Chatham-Kent resident has died from COVID-19.

The Public Health Unit says a woman in her 80s passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Friday. That brings the municipality’s COVID death toll to five.

With 46 new infections being reported today, the municipality has also hit a grim milestone of more than 1000 cumulative cases since the pandemic began.

Public Health says 55 cases have been resolved since the last update on Friday, lowering the total number of active cases to 104.

There are now 10 active workplace outbreaks, an increase of 1 since Friday, however no specifics are being released. Public Health is still keeping tabs on outbreaks at Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, Riverview Gardens in Chatham, and two congregate living settings.

Provincially, another 24 people have died from COVID-19. The Ministry of Health is marking a dip in new cases with 2578 new infections across Ontario.

A significant drop in new cases in Windsor-Essex with just 35 new cases of COVID-19 today and one additional death in the region.

Lambton County is reporting 31 new infections today. Two more people have died as a result of the virus.
