Chatham-Kent Public Health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Village on the Thames Retirement home. That’s in addition to ongoing outbreaks at Riverview Gardens and Copper Terrace long term care facilities.
There are now 10 outbreaks across Chatham-Kent, including six un-named workplaces and one congregate living setting.
The number of active cases in the municipality has risen to 140, with four local residents being treated for the virus in hospital.
Meantime, another 51 Ontarians have died from COVID-19. The Ministry of Health numbers released this morning also include another 3128 confirmed cases province-wide.
The numbers in Windsor-Essex continue to climb with three more deaths attributed to the virus and another 174 confirmed cases.
77 new infections have been reported in Lambton County, bringing the total number of active cases to 323 in that region. That includes 16 outbreaks and 6 COVID patients being treated in hospital.
And a grim milestone in London, as reports say the London Health Sciences Centre has brought in a refrigerated trailer to store bodies as the morgue reached capacity. Officials say the backlog is mainly due to the time needed to make appropriate arrangements, and the so-called “capacity challenge” is expected to be sorted out in the next few days.
