COVID Stats Holding Steady

Chatham-Kent’s COVID stats are holding steady heading into October.

For the week of September 25th to October 1st, Chatham-Kent Public Health is reporting 58 confirmed cases of the virus, and the seven-day average still sitting at 8 new high risk cases a day.

No new deaths are linked to the virus, and no more outbreaks have been declared.

Public Health staff are keeping tabs on nine outbreaks across the municipality, all related to group homes, retirement residences, and long term care facilities.

Chatham-Kent’s COVID positivity rate is 11%, up from 9.1% a week ago. The provincial rate has risen to 12.7%.

Since the pandemic began in March, 2020 there have been 9851 confirmed cases in Chatham-Kent and 86 deaths caused by the COVID-19.

Public health officials continue to stress case numbers are an underestimate of the total number of infections because of limited PCR testing.
