It’s an event like no other – the CP Holiday Train is stopping in Chatham today.

The Sam Roberts Band and Jojo Mason are on board the Holiday Train this year, and they’ll be stopping by the John D. Bradley Convention Centre parking lot at 2:30 this afternoon.

The train is making stops all over Canada this holiday season, as it has since 1999. Since then, the campaign has raised more than $14 million dollars for local food banks.

If you plan on going to the event today, local food bank representatives will be there collecting monetary donations and heart-healthy food.

The train will leave Chatham for Windsor at 3:15.

In the meantime, the Municipality is expecting large volumes of traffic in the Richmond Street and Keil Drive area.

Residents are asked avoid the area if you aren’t planning on attending the event and to find alternative routes around the area.

For those who are attending the event, officials ask that the Bradley Centre parking lot be reserved for families with young children and those with mobility issues.

Additional parking is located at site owned by Campbell Toyota, and the former Target parking lot on Grand Ave.

However, there is no shuttle service between the parking sites and the Bradley Centre.
