There’s labour peace at CP Rail.
Federal Minister of Labour Seamus O’Regan announced this morning that with the help of mediators from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, Canadian Pacific and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference have agreed to resolve their remaining collective agreement provisions through binding arbitration.
Chatham-Kent—Leamington MP Dave Epp expressed concerns over the strike, which began on Sunday, saying combined with volatile commodity markets, increased utility and fuel costs, and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the shutdown of CP rail operations would deliver a crippling blow to Canadians.
Regular rail operations will resume today and continue through the arbitration process.
