For the second time in a week, Chatham-Kent Police have been cracking down on drivers disobeying traffic signs in the construction zone around the Parry Bridge in Chatham.
Over the course of a two and a half hour period yesterday, 49 drivers were given tickets for making an illegal left hand turn.
Constable Doug Cowell says it’s all about safety.
“We’re trying to get the message across for the safety of the construction workers. We’ve had a lot of phone calls from residents that get so upset because the traffic is back logging all the way to Grand Ave. and Keil,” says Cowell.
Cowell says most of the drivers charged weren’t maliciously disobeying the law, but hadn’t been paying attention to the signs around them.
