Cracking Down on Impaired Drivers Across CK

Thousands of Chatham-Kent motorist have been given a lesson on the dangers of drunk driving.

Chatham-Kent Police conducted a week-long Impaired Driving Safety Blitz from March 22 until March 31, including heightened enforcement, community outreach, and education

In all, 4737 drivers were stopped across the municipality. One person was arrested for impaired driving, 13 motorists were issued three-day license suspensions, one seven-day license suspension was handed out, and officers collected 47-roadside breath samples.

Officers also stopped one suspended driver at a RIDE checkpoint, and another person was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants.

Authorities are urging all residents to plan ahead. If you might be consuming substances, whether drugs or alcohol, designate a sober driver, call a taxi, use a rideshare program, or make alternative transportation arrangements.
