An East Kent Councillor is hoping that recent changes to the Municipal Public Nuisance By-Law will reduce the number of disturbances in Ridgetown.
David VanDamme says police officers are now able to enter backyards if they have reason to believe a party is causing a public nuisance.
“We’ve just made the community of Ridgetown that much better,” Van Damme says. “We’ve taken an age-old problem and identified key ways, strategic ways, to get all the players talking and working together to hopefully bring less hardship with every new season of students that come to the town.”
The Municipality has also made changes to the regulation of housing and room rentals, including licensing fees and changes to the Noise By-Law.
