Technicians are working to repair the damage and clear the scene following a collision involving a dump truck in south Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the intersection of Queen Street and Park Avenue is closed due to downed power lines in the area following the collision early Thursday morning. The public is asked to avoid Park Avenue between McGuigan Avenue and Maple Leaf Drive.

Cogeco posted on social media that the collision has caused a “fibre cut” resulting in an interruption of internet services for customers in Ridgetown, Chatham and Blenheim. An estimated restoration time is currently unknown but Cogeco officials said it could take a long while due to the extent of the damages.

Police have not provided any further details about the collision or whether anyone has been injured.
