Chatham-Kent Police continue to investigate after a crash south of Wallaceburg. 
Authorities say just after 6:30 Wednesday night, an officer spotted a vehicle with expired plates but before being able to talk to the driver, the car sped off. The officer followed, but the chase was called off.
About half an hour later, another officer found the suspect vehicle on its roof in a field on Meadowvale Line and the two occupants were taken to hospital.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, was air-lifted to London for further treatment, while the passenger, a 22-year-old woman from Thamesville, was treated for minor injuries and released.
Authorities say the SIU was notified, as is required whenever someone is hurt during a situation involving police, but the agency has decided not to invoke its mandate.
In the meantime, the CK Police traffic unit has taken over the investigation.
