Crashing Into Pole Leads To Impaired Driving Charge

An impaired driving charge has been laid following a minor collision in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers received multiple calls at around 10 p.m. on Friday about a vehicle that had reversed into a pole after leaving a business on Grand Avenue West.

Police located the vehicle on Keil Drive South a short time later and arrested the driver, who had been showing signs of impairment. The driver was taken to the local police detachment for breath tests, which registered a fail.

As a result, a 46-year-old Woodslee woman is now charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. She was later released from custody with a future court date.
