A warning for local residents who may be hitting the beach or the water as summer winds down.

Officials with Fisheries and Oceans Canada say as part of the Small Craft Harbours program, crews will be dredging the Erieau Channel over the next several weeks to remove sediment buildup and maintain safe navigation for recreational and commercial users.

The dredging will continue through October 31, during which time residents, visitors, and mariners can expect to see increased construction activity and equipment operating in the channel.

Residents are urged to use caution and follow signage or direction from on-site personnel while work is underway.
