A Wallaceburg man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly striking an officer with his motorcycle helmet.
Police conducted a traffic stop on Baseline Road in Wallaceburg on Wednesday afternoon and through investigationĀ noted several Highway Traffic Act offences being committed by a motorcyclist.
When the officer attempted to serve the driver his tickets and inform him that the motorcycle would be towed from the scene, he became combative and swung at the officer, striking him with his motorcycle helmet.
The driver then fled on foot, but was taken into custody a short distance away.
The 61-year-old Wallaceburg man has been additionally charged with uttering threats, assault peace officer, resist arrest and assault peace officer with weapon.
He was released pending a future court date of September 22.
