A cross-border bus company is cancelling its stop in Chatham-Kent, only four months after announcing the service.
Megabus, a daily express bus service that offers transit options across Canada and the United States, has notified the municipality that it will be discontinuing service at the downtown Chatham stop as of August 16, due to the lack of ridership.
Megabus initially introduced a stop in Chatham in April, as part of a daily route between Toronto and Detroit. The bus service currently utilizes the Downtown Chatham Transfer Terminal as a pick-up and drop-off location.
While the service will no longer be provided locally, the municipality said Megabus is exploring the possibility of an alternate stop location in Chatham-Kent closer to the 401.
