A few reminders for anyone planning on heading south of the border for American Thanksgiving or Black Friday shopping.

Officials with the Canada Border Services Agency are reminding drivers to plan ahead and check border wait times online, know your exemption limits, and have all travel documents handy.

If you are planning to bring turkey across the border, remember that all poultry products must be retail packaged, for human consumption, and labelled as “product of the USA.” Any homemade food or leftovers containing poultry will not be allowed back into Canada.

While cannabis may be legal for recreational use on this side of the border, authorities say it cannot be brought into or out of the US in any form, including oils containing THC or CBD without a permit or exemption authorized by Health Canada.

And boaters planning to travel in nor near Canadian waters or enter Canada by boat will have to immediately report to the CBSA.
