Municipal council will be discussing crosswalk safety tonight. Councillor Joe Faas is introducing a motion to spend upwards of $500,000 on installing pedestrian crosswalk systems.
Faas says the funding request is just an estimate at this point.
“There’s three types of pedestrian crosswalk devices and they range anywhere from $10,000 to $60,000 each, depending on the traffic volumes and the pedestrian volumes.”
The municipal engineering department will be conducting a study on traffic and pedestrian counts with a final cost expected in August.
