Crowfest in downtown Chatham is in the books and organizers are thrilled.

Co-Chair Andrew Thiel says the inaugural event drew great crowds over the four days.

“Everything started off with the Dueling Pianos, we had a great attendance of 437 people,” Thiel says. “Thursday the Gala was sold out, Friday we had massive crowds downtown, and then at the wrap-up party, we filled up the entire back part at Sons of Kent, so couldn’t be happier.”

Dozens of contestants of all ages entered costume contests in Tecumseh Park, retailers throughout the downtown core decorated their storefronts and windows with crow-themed displays, and a ‘crow your boat’ rubber ducky style race was held on the Thames River.

Thiel says Crowfest have been possible without the team of volunteers.

“We had a fantastic volunteer committee that put in so many hours. It’s like an iceberg, it does down really, really deep. Without them, this event couldn’t happen.”

Organizers are hoping to expand the event next year, building it into more of a regional busker festival and possibly hosting events in other communities around Chatham-Kent.
