While the birds themselves have yet to descend en masse, Chatham-Kent will be celebrating all things crow for the next four days.

The inaugural Crowfest kicks off today with daily activities planned, including a performance by The Great Canadian Dueling Pianos, a costume contest, a Gala, a night market, buskers, and more.

Retailers around downtown Chatham are getting into the spirit as well with window displays and events today through Saturday.

Wednesday night features the Great Crane Escape and Dueling Pianos at the Chatham Armoury. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Retro Suites Hotel.

Thursday is the Crowfest Gala at the Armoury, including dinner, a preview of various busker performances, and a hypnotist.  The 1963 film The Birds will be shown at the Capitol Theatre.

Friday things kick into high gear as King Street in downtown Chatham will be shut down with various vendors, activities, and entertainment. A night market will be held in Tecumseh Park starting at 3pm.

Saturday’s events include buskers along King Street West, festivities in Tecumseh Park, costume contests, the Crow Your Boat race down the Thames River, and Busk After Dusk at the Crowbar, located at Sons of Kent brewery.
