It’s crunch time for the Chatham Goodfellows as the annual No Child Without a Christmas campaign enters its final week.

President Tim Haskell says there’s lots of work to be done in the meantime and extra hands are always welcome.

“The packing starts this week, if you want to volunteer, we have a volunteer signup sheet on our website chathamgoodfellows.ca,” Haskell says. “Then we start our pick-ups on the 17th and 18th of December.”

Food and toy baskets can be picked up at the former Sears store in the Downtown Chatham Centre this Friday (last names starting with A through M) and Saturday (last names starting N through Z,) with deliveries going out on Sunday.

Haskell says up until the last minute, donations are always welcome.

“If you want to donate to us, you can get hold of us through donate@chathamgoodfellows.ca, we’re still in need of funds. This is a big chunk of the money we need, but we’ll spend around $200,000 on our campaign this year.”

The Porchlight portion of the campaign brought in over $50,000 while this past weekend’s Street Sales raised roughly $27,700.

The organization is expecting to help as many as 1500 families this year.
