Hopes are high at the Children’s Treatment Centre as the organization looks to build a new, expanded facility in Chatham.
The Treatment Centre marked its 70th anniversary last night by releasing a new 3D concept design of the proposed facility, a two-storey building that would be double the size of the current centre.
Executive Director Donna Litwin-Makey says client base at the Treatment Centre has grown from around 200 when the current building opened to more than 3000 now, with an increase in staff and programs offered.
“It’s a non-institutional look, it’s an attractive, beautiful building that inspires that you can do anything,” she says. “We have a long ways to go with eliminating all barriers, making everything more possible for individuals no matter what their need.”
The concept design includes some necessary additions to accommodate the growing roster of specialized programs, as well as potential add-ons for down the road including a walking path and sports fields.
