Cultivating Conservation in CK

Area residents are getting the chance to learn more about Chatham-Kent’s ecosystem.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is hosting its 4th annual Cultivating Conservation Tour on September 11th, celebrating the 5th anniversary of Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) Chatham-Kent.

The self-guided tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of agriculture and conservation through local project sites dedicated to improving soil and water health, including wetlands, tree planting, erosion control, and cover crops.

Organizers say the tour sites help demonstrate best practices, and emphasize how initiatives dedicated the improvement of soil and water health contribute to sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship in our community.

A free dinner is being offered at Red Barn Brewing Co. near Blenheim, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.

An interactive map will be sent out to participants before the event.
