A Wallaceburg man is learning the hard way that making the police chase you doesn’t end well.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said at around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, officers stopped two cyclists in Wallaceburg for not having lights on their bikes at nighttime.
However, one of the cyclists dropped their bike and took off running. Following a short chase, officers were able to catch the cyclist and take him into custody.
As a result, a 24-year-old Wallaceburg man is now charged with obstructing a police investigation, escaping lawful custody, and breaching his probation order.
The accused was also wanted for similar offences in other jurisdictions within Ontario and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
