Municipal officials are hoping to better connect local employers with local students who will soon be looking for work.

The new Employer Engagement Database is a joint project between Chatham-Kent’s Community Attraction and Promotion team and local school boards.

Employers are able to identify various ways they can engage with students by listing their talent attraction needs, availability, and preferred interaction methods such as sharing videos, workplace tours, workplace employment opportunities, student placements, in-class speaker sessions, webinars, and more.

Officials with the Lambton Kent District School Board say having a range of co-op placement opportunities supports students as they explore potential future careers.

“The Employer Engagement Database will benefit students by introducing them to local career opportunities and connecting them with Chatham-Kent employers,” said LKDSB Superintendent of Education Mary Mancini.

“The Chatham-Kent Employer Engagement Database allows local employers to showcase their companies and offer valuable career exploration opportunities to students,” added Chris Kehoe, Superintendent of Education for St. Clair Catholic District School Board. “This will open the doors for our students to find co-op placements tailored to their interests and allow students to see the potential career pathways available right in their own community of Chatham-Kent as they prepare for the future.”

Business owners and employers across Chatham-Kent are invited to join the database by visiting CKworkforce.ca.
