The clock is ticking for parents and caregivers who are considering moving students from at-home learning back into the classroom, and vice versa.

Deb Crawford, director of education for the St Clair Catholic District School Board says while there are a number of families looking at shifting to face-to-face classes, it shouldn’t cause too much disruption.

“More families are requesting to come back than are requesting to move (to virtual learning,) but it’s not a great swell,” Crawford says. “We’re trying to manage this in a way that’s the least disruptive as possible because we want to keep our class sizes in the face-to-face model as low as we possibly could.”

John Howitt, director of education with the Lambton Kent District School Board echoes those sentiments, and says the overall numbers aren’t expected to change drastically.

“We are seeing some requests for movement, but they’re going in both directions,” Howitt says. “There is some possibility that while we’re still gathering information that we may have to reorganize some classes in some schools, but it is nowhere near the level we’re reading about our seeing in the GTA.”

The deadline to request a change at both the Lambton Kent and St Clair Catholic District School Boards is this Thursday, October 22nd.
