Progress is being made on a pair of derelict buildings in Tilbury.

Municipal officials were first contacted about a collapsing building at 47 and 49 Queen Street North in 2022.

Partial demolition eventually took place earlier this year, however engineers discovered pre-existing structural defects of the walls of the two neighbouring buildings and work was paused.

Officials now say representatives for the property owner of 45 and 55 Queen Street North have provided a work plan to address structural issues. Building permits have been issued and structural work is expected to begin in the near future.

Municipal officials say they will continue to monitor the conditions at the site to ensure appropriate safety measures are in place.
