Councillor Carmen McGregor says the process will start with a public consultation.

“What we passed tonight was approving the company that’s going to be doing all the architectural designs, and they will also be responsible for doing community meetings,” McGregor says. “We’ll have the opportunity for the community to come in and look at the designs and talk about the changes that will take place at the arena.”

At this point, no date for the community consultations have been set.

The plans include a new elevator, reconfigured dressing rooms, canteen area, and ice level viewing area.

McGregor says some of the construction could start this year, with the majority taking place in 2019.
