With several crashes on the 401 this week, Chatham-Kent Tourism Development is encouraging drivers to plan their trips ahead of time. 
Supervisor Shannon Paiva says construction and traffic jams are unavoidable, but their Detourist Campaign can help make your trip a little easier.
“What we can do to help is give people alternate routes, so if you are traveling, take a look at the map that you can download,” Paiva says. “If you’re coming from the east and heading westbound, Kent Bridge Road is very easy to detour off of and you can get back on to the 401 at Essex Road 42, just past Tilbury, and you can bypass all of that construction.”
The maps not only show alternative routes, but they also showcase attractions in the area. These maps can be found on visitck.ca.
