A mea culpa from the Diocese of London in connection to allegations of sexual abuse by members of the clergy.

Earlier this week, a group representing abuse survivors published a list of 36 people associated with the Diocese accused of committing sexual assault in southwestern Ontario.

Of those 36, at least seven have ties to Chatham-Kent.

The Diocese issued am apology this morning.

“We are sorry for the pain that clergy sexual abuse has caused, and we are committed to vigilantly protecting those who are vulnerable, to supporting survivors, and to swiftly addressing allegations,” the statement reads.

Bishop Ronald Fabbro has now waived all confidentiality requirements from settlements in the Diocese to allow survivors to make their own choices about making their experiences public.
