Discovery Week is wrapping up at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
Almost 20 first-year medical students have been at the Wallaceburg and Thames campuses, gaining some real world experience.
Dr. Susan Munro oversees the program locally and says there’s also a benefit for the hospital.
“If you’ve got a good level of medical education going on with a number of interested students and residents, you get high level performers in your physicians themselves,” she says. “It only adds back and raises the bar that all of us are delivering in Chatham-Kent.”
The students come from the Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Province-wide, 170 medical students are taking part in Discovery Week at 30 different hospitals.
