A harsh reminder for a number of motorists about the dangers of not paying attention to the road.
Provincial Police have compiled stats from across Ontario after a crack-down on distracted driving over March Break.
On OPP-patrolled roads province-wide last week, a total of 1508 distracted driving charges were laid, and another 51 charges for careless driving when motorists were caught dividing their attention between the road and some other activity.
New, higher penalties for distracted driving took effect at the beginning of the year, including fines of up to $1000, three demerit points, and a three-day license suspension.
