Distracted Driving Deaths On The Rise

Ontario Provincial Police is reporting that distracted-driving deaths are now near double that of impaired-related deaths this year. OPP logo

The OPP is launching a Distracted Driving Campaign this Labour Day Weekend to draw attention to the dangers of distracted driving.

Since the middle of August, the OPP have investigated 38 deaths related to distract driving in Ontario, compared with 19 deaths involving an impaired driver.

OPP warn that both of these behaviours are dangerous, but drivers should take extra caution when driving and make sure their eyes are on the road.

Police are warning drivers to follow the rules of the road, put down the phone, and to do their part to ensure a safe end to the summer.
