A Dover Township man is facing impaired driving charges following a disturbance in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a disturbance between two men at a residence in Chatham on Monday shortly before 5 a.m.
One of the men left in a vehicle before officers arrived, but was later pulled over in the McNaughton Avenue area after officers noticed that his taillights were out. The man was arrested and taken to police headquarters for tests after officers noticed signs of impairment.
As a result, a 39-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and driving with liquor readily available. He was also charged with facilitating a breach of the other man’s release conditions.
The other man, a 37-year-old from Chatham, was also arrested and charged with failure to comply with an order.
Both of the accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.
