A tragic end to the search for a missing diver in Lake Erie.
Emergency crews responded the Erieau Marina shortly after 11:30 Wednesday morning. Authorities say a scuba diver went into the water but did not resurface.
An extensive search was carried out by Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue crews, with assistance from the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
Authorities say specialized equipment and resources were brought in because of conditions in the channel.
At roughly 8 o’clock Thursday morning, the body of the 67-year-old victim was located and pulled from the water.
Although the Chatham man’s name has not been publicly released, the Chatham-Kent Police Service is extending its sincere condolences to the family and loved once affected by the tragedy.
