Chatham-Kent was shut out in sports complex funding from senior levels of government earlier this year.

At Monday’s council meeting council moved around $18.5 million they had set aside for the project.
While the municipality is not abandoning getting a sports complex in the future, they decided to focus on other commitments with the money.

Council approved moving $11.2 million from the complex reserve funding to the disaster mitigation reserve; $2.6 million be transferred to the Chatham public works garage project and $4.7 million be transferred to its backbone fibre network commitment.
