Although the 2018 United Way campaign is in the books, there’s more work to be done to help those in need.
The organization announced this week it has exceeded its fundraising goal, raising over $1.565-million.
Director of Donor Engagement Tom Slager says now the job begins on putting the money raised to work in the community.
“We at the United Way don’t get to decide that,” Slager explains. “After everything is processed and everything else, we’re going to have a fund distribution committee made up of community members, and they’re going to decide how a large portion of this gets divvied up.”
Slager says having surpassed the goal this year means there will be a little more money than they planned to go around.
