Charges have been laid against a Chatham man following a fight with a woman.
Police responded to a Merritt Avenue home late Tuesday night, shortly before 11 o’clock, and say the man allegedly attacked the woman without provocation.
While officers were there, police say the man held onto the victim and refused to let her go.
Authorities were eventually able to take control of the man and the woman was taken to a place of safety.
The 42-year-old accused is charged with assault and resisting arrest.
He was released from custody with conditions and a date in court next month.
