Domestic Assault Suspect Arrested On Outstanding Warrant

A Sarnia man facing several assault charges has been arrested again on an outstanding warrant.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a Chatham home on May 3 for a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman. Following an investigation, a 27-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and charged with five counts of assault and three counts of assault causing bodily harm. He was later released from custody with conditions, including not to visit or contact the victim.

The following day, officers were called back to the home after the man was allegedly in the parking lot of the victim’s residence. However, the man could not be found when police arrived.

A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest after it was learned that he had allegedly made multiple attempts to contact the victim.

The accused was arrested by the Sarnia Police Service on Friday shortly before 3 a.m. and transferred to the CK police headquarters. He is now additionally charged with three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
