Two local soup kitchens that support those in need are getting a financial boost thanks to a major labour union.
CLAC has donated $2,500 to Word of Life Soup Kitchen in Blenheim and another $1,500 to Interfaith Caring Kitchen in Chatham as part of the union’sĀ Building Communities program.
Word of Life Soup Kitchen is run by volunteers from the Blenheim Word of Life Church who provide meals on Wednesday, Friday, and on special holidays to those who are less fortunate.
Similarly, the Interfaith Caring Kitchen serves between 120-130 meals twice per month to those in need, through a partnership between the St. Ursula Parish and the Chatham-Kent Muslim Association.
CLAC is a national union representing over 60,000 workers in almost every sector of the economy.
