If you’re going to be cooking a lot during the holidays, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services wants you to pay attention in the kitchen.
Whitney Burk, Public Educator with Fire & Emergency Services, says it’s important to stay in the kitchen while cooking:
“We advise that you watch what you heat, so stay in the kitchen if possible,” says Burk If guests are coming over ask an aunt or uncle or friend to say in the kitchen with you just so you can watch what’s going on there.”
She also says cooking while under the influence is a common factor in many fatal fires.
