The downward trend for CK’s COVID stats continues with just 30 active cases reported today.

Public Health says just one new case has been confirmed since yesterday along with 5 resolutions.

Another local resident has been admitted to hospital with the virus, bringing the number of CK patients in care to five. Officials at the Health Alliance say they are also treating four COVID-positive patients from outside the municipality.

There is still one active workplace outbreak on the books.

To date, 178 variants of concern have been identified locally.

Meantime, a new batch of Chatham-Kent residents are now eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Those 50 and older, along with educational staff, agricultural workers, and other employees who can’t work from home can schedule their shot through the Chatham-Kent booking system, either online at getyourshotck.com or by calling 519-351-1010.

More essential workers who can’t work from home, including grocery store employees, social workers, and veterinary staff, will become eligible in the near future.

To date, Public Health has administered over 37,700 total vaccine doses, with more than 36,000 people getting at least their first shot.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby says 80% of Chatham-Kent residents 60 and older have now received their first shot.
