The group responsible for tracking tornadoes in Ontario has confirmed that a downburst caused localized damage in the Wheatley area.
The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) said a downburst or an EF0 microburst caused structural damage to a large drive shed southwest of Coatsworth on Sunday.
An NTP survey team, which was deployed to the region on Monday, also documented damage to crops and items that were blown downwind, including a trampoline.
The maximum wind speed of the storm is estimated at around 130 km/h, with damage found over an area approximately 500 metres long and up to 300 metres wide
No injuries were reported.
The Northern Tornadoes Project was founded at Western University in 2017 to better detect tornadoes throughout Canada and improve severe and extreme weather understanding.
