Downtown Chatham BIA Renews Call For Artists

The Historic Downtown Chatham BIA is renewing a call for artists to create a piece of public art in the downtown core.

Back in July, the BIA announced it wanted to create a three-paneled mural on the side of the River Rock nightclub at the corner of King Street West and Fourth Street, following the theme “inspire community pride through the exploration of our history and heritage within Chatham.”

The final mural pieces will be selected by a jury of experts, with digital images of the winning submissions printed and installed on the site as a triptych of panels, each measuring 9′ wide by 12′ high.

The winning artists will receive $2,000 each, along with a plaque below their work listing their name, the name of their artwork, and a QR code to their social media/ website. The murals and plaques will stay up for at least the next 5 years, with the unveiling happening during the 2025 RetroFest™ weekend.

The deadline for submissions has been extended until January 30, 2025. For more information click here or email hdtcbiamural@gmail.com.
