Online shopping has taken its toll on a local business.

Enchantment Bridal and Formal Gowns will be closing its doors for good on October 27th.

Owner Pam Lowther says for years, the staff were run off their feet trying to keep up with customers.

“Unfortunately, now we sit and wait for customers to come in the door. It’s not like it used to be. To have a brick-and-mortar, you have to be able to have customers in the store. Yes, we have tried putting things out there online, but unfortunately, we can’t purchase out good-quality goods at a price that we can sell them,” says Lowther.

Lowther says deciding to shut down the shop after 16 years was a difficult one, but hopes it will encourage more people to support local businesses before it’s too late.

“I hope the trend [of shopping online] stops. I don’t want to say that that is what is happening, but I do see it. Unfortunately you don’t want to be negative about it but at the same time, you want to encourage people to get out there, visit your store,s your local retailers – whatever the case may be – those are your kids jobs in the future,” says Lowther.
