The removal of heavy debris and timber caused by the local flooding of the Thames River will cause another temporary overnight closure in downtown Chatham.
All lanes of the Fifth Street Bridge will once again be closed overnight from 9PM Monday to 7AM on Tuesday. Fifth Street will be closed at King Street West and Thames Street will be closed between Dover Street and Pitt Street for the same duration. The same closure occurred overnight Sunday into Monday morning.
A crane has been brought in to clear the debris, which has also collected a pontoon boat, a sea-doo and a dock complete with umbrella along the way.
Municipal officials expect the area to be re-opened to traffic once again at 7AM Tuesday morning.
