A Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly threatening local residents who were checking on his wellbeing.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the victims were outside of their apartment building on Fifth Street in Chatham at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday when the accused walked by.

Because the man appeared to be upset, the victims asked if he was ok. However, the man then became irate and started yelling. During an argument, the man allegedly made threatening comments.

Officers located and arrested the accused at his home.

A 53-year-old Chatham man is now charged with two counts of uttering threats. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and an August court date.
