More than 150 charges have been laid in Chatham-Kent as part of a police education and enforcement campaign over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers stopped 745 vehicles at RIDE checkpoints during Operation Impact, a national road safety campaign that took place from October 6-9.
A total of 160 Highway Traffic Act charges were laid, nine suspended drivers were caught behind the wheel, and two were arrested for impaired driving.
Operation Impact is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and focuses on enforcing traffic laws and raising awareness about safe driving habits.
